Dog grooming kit: combs, brushes and slickers

A cutting comb, a universal slicker brush, a pin brush or an undercoat rake: this range brings together professional-grade tools from Artero, Kerbl, Spratts and Show Tech, alongside our own Animorix items. You'll also find ear-hair tweezers, useful for breeds with a hairy ear canal, plus several head and handle sizes.

Which tool for which coat type?

A comb or detangler suits localised knots and finishing touches, while a brush or slicker covers the coat more broadly to remove dead undercoat, especially during shedding season. Short coats generally need fewer tools than long or double coats, which often call for a fuller kit.

How often should I groom my dog at home?

A short coat only needs a few minutes' gentle brushing once or twice a week, while a long or dense coat needs much more regular attention to prevent knots. Don't forget ear-hair removal for breeds that need it, a step best learned gradually and without ever forcing it on an unwilling dog.

How to use a slicker brush or undercoat rake correctly

Work in the direction of the coat, in small sections, without pressing too hard on the skin, and stop if your dog shows any sign of discomfort. Short, regular sessions work better than one long, occasional one, and help your dog get used to being handled calmly over time.

Why buy your grooming kit at Animorix

Comb, brush or slicker: where do I start?
Start with a comb to find knots, then use a brush or slicker on the rest of the coat and the undercoat.
How often should a long-haired dog be groomed?
Several times a week, to prevent knots and make it easier to maintain between grooming appointments.
How do I use a slicker brush without hurting my dog?
Work in the direction of the coat, in small sections, without pressing hard, and stop at the first sign of discomfort.
Does grooming equipment also work for cats?
Some tools do; see our dedicated cat grooming range.
