How long does a bag of kibble last?

There is nothing worse than discovering an empty bag on a Sunday evening. Good news: calculating how long a bag will last is very simple.

The formula

Duration (days) = bag weight (in g) ÷ daily ration (in g)

Examples:

• 4 kg cat, approx. 55 g/day → a 2 kg bag lasts approx. 36 days.
• 10 kg dog, approx. 150 g/day → a 7 kg bag lasts approx. 46 days.
• 30 kg dog, approx. 360 g/day → a 12 kg bag lasts approx. 33 days.

Big bag or small bag?

The large size is generally cheaper per kilo. However, once opened, a bag is ideally kept for 4 to 6 weeks: seal it well, away from heat and moisture, ideally in its original packaging.
